Applications for this summer’s Ignite Young Adult Entrepreneurial Internship program are set to close this Friday, April 26 at 5pm.

A spokespersons said, “Ignite Bermuda is encouraging all local young adults 18 – 25 years old who are interested in, or curious to learn about entrepreneurship to apply for this summer’s 8-week programme.

“The part-time paid programme aims to support the development of local young adults’ passions for entrepreneurship through workshops with industry experts, project-based internships within local startups and connectivity with an ever-growing community of entrepreneurs. The programme will run from July 9 to August 27, 2024, and will offer successful applicants the opportunity to gain real-world experience within some of Bermuda’s top startups as they work on independent projects within their assigned host business or organization.

A 2023 intern stated, “[This programme] taught me not to be my biggest setback and to go for it. Not only from the workshops but from my peers as well. The environment was very welcoming and calm which made it easier to adapt to this new experience. It taught me as I progress in the business world not to be afraid and go for my goals.” Another stated, “I’ve learned to understand and value failure and see it more as a part of the process rather than something to stop me in my tracks.”

The spokesperson said, “Young adult interns have the opportunity to engage with Ignite entrepreneurs through host mentorship, workshops, small group discussions, and more. Workshop topics include, but are not limited to, Entrepreneurial Mindset, Customer Discovery, Marketing, Bermuda Economic Overview, Health and Wellness, and Access to Capital. Previous participants from the last programme expressed that the programme was engaging while enabling them to gain a deeper understanding of entrepreneurship and ultimately solidifying their desire to pursue their passions.”

When asked about their internship experience, an intern stated, “[My host] always had a positive attitude and was excited to work with me. She always had a clear vision and helped me to execute it. She was very understanding and ensured that I took information that would benefit my own business and greatly built my confidence in myself.”

The spokesperson said, “The Ignite Young Adult Entrepreneurial Internship programme is committed to equitably empowering Bermuda’s young adults to follow their passion for entrepreneurship. Academic certifications and prior work experiences are not required for admission into the programme; however, we do ask that applicants are 18 – 25 years old, are Bermudian or have permission to work in Bermuda, are able to commit to the programme fully, possess a positive attitude and are self-motivated.
