Among the contingent was Rupert Cuddon-Large, assistant national coach for the Bermuda senior women’s field hockey team, whose roots trace back to Jersey. Cuddon-Large, a former stalwart of Jersey’s hockey scene, expressed his enthusiasm for the tournament and the opportunity to reunite with familiar faces.

“I’ve lived in Bermuda for nearly 6 years since moving from Jersey,” Cuddon-Large shared. “Jersey’s hockey culture is similar to Bermuda’s but with a larger population.”

Cuddon-Large, who previously plied his trade for JHC Leopards and represented Jersey in annual clashes against rival island Guernsey, highlighted the significance of the event in fostering stronger bonds between the two island communities.

“I’m was most excited to see my two hockey homes combine,” he remarked. “I am hopeful that we can establish some strong bonds through some competitive games that might pave the way for future events between the two islands.”
