A charity golf tournament was recently held to raise funds for Amber’s Wings – which assists the island’s under-resourced youth through the transformative power of animals – at Port Royal Golf Course.

Amber’s Wings was launched this year by Heidi Michelsen, who lost her 16-year-old daughter, Amber Bridges, in a road crash on South Road, Southampton, almost three years ago.

Amber competed in dressage, on hunters, and in show jumping.

A spokesperson said: “The picturesque greens of Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton played host to a successful inaugural golf tournament.

“The event, which saw enthusiastic participation from golfers of all skill levels, was a resounding triumph, thanks to the support of generous sponsors, corporate and individual.

“With stunning ocean views as the backdrop, participants teed off for a day of friendly competition and camaraderie.

“Amidst the rain and wind, players showcased their talent and passion for the game, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the tournament.

“The success of the event was made possible by the invaluable contributions of our sponsors, whose unwavering support and generosity helped make the tournament a memorable experience for all.”

Amber’s Wings’ next fundraiser will be the “Run for a Cause” Kentucky Derby Party at Port Royal from 3 pm to 9 pm on May 4.

Guests will be treated to an afternoon and evening of festivities, including best-dressed prizes, live entertainment, and fun-filled activities for children and adults.

“Whether you’re a racing enthusiast or simply looking for a good time, this event is sure to delight and inspire,” a spokesperson said.
