Trey Mallory Wins Decider For UNC Wilmington
Trey Mallory and his UNC Wilmington [UNCW] men’s tennis teammate’s win streak goes to seven.
Wins by Mallory and Jordi Domenech finished off a UNCW rally for a 4 – 3 win at nationally-ranked Old Dominion on Thursday at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
UNCW trailed 3-1 following a loss on court four, but Harold Huens posted a straight-set win 6-2, 6-3 at number one singles to narrow the deficit to 3 – 2.
Domenech drew UNC Wilmington even with a three-set win on court six 6-3, 2-6, 6-0, and Mallory won picked up a three-set victory over Maxime Mareschal 6-2, 1-6, 7-5.
ODU earned the doubles point and the early lead with wins at number one and two doubles. Mallory and his partner Gabe Hurtado were level at 4-4 in the first set of their doubles number 3 spot when the match was halted.
