Appleby, Skyport Plant 100 Cedar Trees At Airport
Law firm Appleby has partnered with Skyport, the operators of Bermuda’s LF Wade International Airport, in the planting of 100 endemic cedar trees at the airport.
A spokesperson said, “The ‘100 Cedar Trees’ planting project was envisioned by Appleby, as a way to give back to Bermuda and to serve as a token of its commitment and contribution to help improve the island’s environment. The tree planting took place on 6 May with 100 endemic cedar trees planted throughout the airport grounds.”
Brad Adderley, Appleby’s Managing Partner in Bermuda said, “We have been focused on participating and leading more environmentally-friendly initiatives, and this is our biggest undertaking to date, with more exciting things planned by our team.”
The spokesperson said, “The Appleby Group, comprised of 10 offices globally, achieved the Planet Mark Business Certification in June 2023, underlining the Group’s commitment to environmental sustainability – with the Bermuda office taking the lead in introducing a Green Team committee in its continued effort to transition to a more environmentally friendly workspace for all. The committee is focused on office, home and community-based initiatives.”
Mr. Adderley adds, “We initially wanted to gift all our Appleby and AGS Bermuda employees an endemic cedar tree to plant at their place of residence, but realized that might not be possible for all colleagues and decided to purchase the 100 cedar trees and donate them on behalf of our Appleby team to the airport, where locals and visitors can enjoy them, and where they can thrive for years to come. We hope the cedar trees will further add to the airport’s already green and lush environment, which is beautified with oleanders and hibiscuses.”
The spokesperson saud, “Tree-planting has become a key initiative in many environmental campaigns around the world to help reduce the impact of carbon emissions and restore natural ecosystems. In 2020 the World Economic Forum launched the Trillion Trees campaign to help restore biodiversity and help fight climate change.”
“This is our take on that campaign on a smaller scale. Our island home may be small but with everyone’s help, we too can make a difference to the environment and our community,” Brad Adderley said.

As the owner of multiple mature cedar trees, one of which was ontop of our wedding cake almost 50 years ago, I wish survival success for the cedars at the terminal.
Not so sure how they will do exposed out there but with good care they stand a chance.
