Bermudians Featured In UK Pride Guide

Pride in London will take place this Saturday [June 29] and Bermudians are featured in the official guide, including CEO of Pride in London Christopher Joell-Deshields, Tiffany Paynter, and Taj Donville-Outerbridge.

A spokesperson said, “Pride in London will take place on Saturday, June 29, 2024. The event’s 2024 campaign, #WeAreEverywhere, shines a light on the presence of London’s LGBTQ+ community, and the power they have to be drivers of change by living authentically and without apology.

“As the CEO of Pride in London, Christopher Joell-Deshields is proud to amplify the voices and experiences of LGBTQ+ Bermudians in the organisation’s official 2024 Pride guide.”

“Being in a position to globally showcase Bermuda Pride and Bermuda’s LGBTQ+ activists is a true privilege,” said Mr Joell-Deshields. “This is an opportunity to amplify the voices and experiences of our community, both in London and across the world.”

“The Pride in London 2024 guide will feature stories from Tiffany Paynter, the former Executive Director of Out Bermuda, and Taj Donville-Outerbridge, a Board Member of Out Bermuda. Tiffany’s feature will provide readers with more information about herself, Out Bermuda, and Bermuda Pride. Taj will offer a deeper insight into their leadership and activism, as well as speaking unapologetically about their Black queerness.”

Mr Joell-Deshields added, ”As we come together to celebrate Pride, let us reaffirm our dedication to creating a world where every LGBTQ+ person can live freely, authentically, and without fear. The inclusion of Bermudian LGBTQ+ voices in the Pride in London 2024 official guide demonstrates the organisation’s commitment to showcasing that #WeAreEverywhere.”

A spokesperson said, “Headlining this year is pop sensation Bebe Rexha, the multi-platinum hitmaker behind smashes like “Hey Mama” and “I’m Good [Blue]” with David Guetta, diamond-certified “Meant to Be” with Florida Georgia Line, “Me, Myself, & I” with G-Eazy, “In the Name of Love” with Martin Garrix, Eminem and Rihanna’s chart-topping, 6x Platinum “The Monster,” and countless more.

    I applaud Christopher Joell-Deshields, Tiffany Paynter, and Taj Donville-Outerbridge, but I worry what will happen to them when they return to Bermuda.
