Bermuda High School Celebrates IB Success

The Bermuda High School announced the results of its 2024 International Baccalaureate Diploma cohort.

Head of School, Ms. Carol A. Swainson, commented, “Once again, I am pleased to share this outstanding set of exam results for our Class of 2024. 94% of our students have achieved their IB Diplomas, and they will all begin their tertiary education in the Fall at one of their top-choice universities. I am thrilled that our long history of excellent results continues. Kudos to both our students and teachers for all of the hard work that went into this achievement.”

The spokesperson said, “The average IB Diploma point score for the 2024 BHS cohort was 32 points, above the worldwide average of 30.3 points. The top students’ results and university destinations are below:

  • Bethany Cooze, 41 points – McGill University, Canada, Commerce
  • Olivia Porter – Princeton University, USA, Public Policy
  • Lily Cornes, 35 points – Bath Spa University, UK, Creative Arts Practice
  • Hannah Stockley, 35 points – University of Exeter, UK, English
  • Jasmine Douglas – Dalhousie University, Canada, Psychology

Head of The Senior Years Programme and IB Coordinator, Sarah Wheddon, remarked, “This year’s cohort demonstrated resilience and dedication as they navigated the challenges of the rigorous IB programme. The average subject scores continue to be above the world average, which reflects the hard work of the students and our teachers.

“There was a 100% pass rate for all courses, highlighting the determination of each of our students. Congratulations to all the students, teachers and families who have supported this journey and best wishes for your bright futures.”

The spokesperson said, “The Class of 2024 have a diverse range of interests, talents and career plans for the future, and they are heading off to universities in Canada, the USA, and the UK. Some of the disciplines to be studied include Psychology, Law, Art, Commerce, Business, Human Resources, Acting & Performing, Geography, Economics, and Aviation.

“Students will attend Bermuda College locally. Those studying in Canada will do so at Dalhousie University, McGill University, and Niagara College.

‘Graduates going to the USA will attend Flagler College and Princeton University. In the UK, students are enroled at the Universities of Birmingham, Central Lancashire, Essex, Exeter, Leicester, and Northampton, in addition to Bath Spa University, Nottingham Trent University and University of the Arts London [Central St. Martins and Wimbledon].”
