CariGenetics & Cannabis Association Conference
CariGenetics has launched two at-home genetic testing kits, 4Twenty and VividlyYou.
A spokesperson said, “CariGenetics is excited to announce the launch of two groundbreaking at-home genetic testing kits, 4Twenty and VividlyYou, unveiled today at the Bermuda Cannabis Association’s press conference held at Ignite Bermuda.
“The Bermuda Cannabis Association hosted the press conference to provide updates on cannabis policy, regulations, and community involvement. They emphasised the importance of product safety and testing and announced their partnership with CariGenetics for these innovative genetic testing kits.
“4Twenty is designed to help individuals understand how their bodies respond to cannabinoids, offering detailed information on genetic predispositions and personalised dosing for safe cannabis use. VividlyYou is designed to help individuals understand how they respond to 9 psychedelics, providing valuable insights for safe and effective use.”
Dr. Carika Weldon, Founder and CEO of CariGenetics, said, “Most people are aware that the cannabis plant produces a wide variety of cannabinoids, but many people are surprised to learn that the human body actually produces its own cannabinoids and relies on them for a number of different cellular and neurological functions. The way our nervous system and body react to cannabinoids is dependent on our genes.
“For example, a significant interaction was found between lifetime frequency of cannabis use and a variant in the DRD2 gene on psychosis risk. I am proud to say that our new tests check for this with a simple check swab.
“At CariGenetics, we are excited to introduce our two latest at-home genetic tests in our 4You Series: 4Twenty, our Cannabis DNA test, and VividlyYou, our Psychedelic DNA test. These kits are the first of their kind to be offered in the Caribbean and our goal is to expand our collective knowledge about how these substances affect our distinct genetic makeup for smarter and informed experiences.”
Kim Caisey, founder, and Rickai Robinson, co-founder of Bermuda Cannabis Association, said, “The Bermuda Cannabis Association is dedicated to advancing the cannabis industry in Bermuda through policy development, business support, and community education. Our collaboration with CariGenetics represents a significant step forward in promoting safe and informed cannabis use. The 4Twenty and VividlyYou tests are groundbreaking products that will provide individuals with valuable insights into their genetic responses, fostering safer and more informed experiences.”
The spokesperson said, “The launch event highlighted the Bermuda Cannabis Association’s three pillars: assisting the government with policy, supporting businesses with regulation and compliance, and educating the community. The association is working with experts to draft comprehensive legislation emphasising product safety and testing.
“To purchase 4Twenty or VividlyYou, or any of CariGenetics other eight products, please visit the website.”
Kai Robinson, co-founder and COO of Bermuda Cannabis Association, said, “ducation is a cornerstone of our mission at the Bermuda Cannabis Association. It is crucial for the community to understand both the benefits and potential risks associated with cannabis use. Here are three important facts everyone should know about medical cannabis:
- Medical cannabis can provide relief for various conditions, including chronic pain, anxiety, and epilepsy.
- Access to safe and regulated medical cannabis can significantly improve the quality of life for patients.
- Understanding the different effects of cannabis on various body types is essential, as genetics play a significant role in how individuals respond to cannabis.
“It’s important for people to know how their bodies will react to different substances, and that’s where genetic testing comes in. By understanding your genetic makeup, you can make more informed decisions about cannabis use, minimising risks and maximising benefits.
“We are thrilled to partner with CariGenetics, who have developed two innovative products, 4Twenty and VividlyYou, that will help individuals understand their genetic predispositions and responses to cannabis and psychedelics. These products are a game-changer in promoting safe and personalised cannabis use. Now, I would like to invite Dr Weldon to speak more about these exciting new products.”
Dr Weldon said, “At CariGenetics, our goal is to empower individuals with knowledge about their health and wellness using genetics, enabling them to make informed decisions.
“Broadly speaking, cannabinoids are a diverse class of both synthetic and naturally-occurring chemical compounds. Most people are aware that the cannabis plant produces a wide variety of cannabinoids, but many people are surprised to learn that the human body actually produces its own cannabinoids and relies on them for a number of different cellular and neurological functions.
“Cannabinoids that are produced within the human body are referred to as endocannabinoids, endo for “within”, and the complex framework of receptors and neurotransmitters in the body is referred to as the endocannabinoid system [ECS]. Cannabinoids that are produced by plants are broadly referred to as phytocannabinoids, “phyto” for plants.
“The full role of the human ECS is still an area of active research. However, it is clear that the ECS is involved in a wide variety of physiological functions and cognitive processes, including: memory, sleep, reproduction, mood, and appetite. The way our nervous systems and body react to cannabinoids is dependent on your genes. For example, a significant interaction was found between lifetime frequency of cannabis use and a variant in the DRD2 gene on psychosis risk. I am proud to say that 4Twenty tests for this risk with a simple check swab.
“We are excited to introduce our two latest at-home genetic tests in our 4You Series: 4Twenty, our Cannabis DNA test, and VividlyYou, our Psychedelic DNA test. 4Twenty is designed to help individuals understand how their bodies respond to cannabinoids, offering detailed information on genetic predispositions and personalised dosing for safe cannabis use. VividlyYou is designed to help individuals understand how they respond to nine psychedelics, providing valuable insights for safe and effective use.
“These kits are the first of their kind to be offered in the Caribbean and our goal is to fill a data void about how these substances affect our distinct genetic makeup in the region. 4Twenty reveals 13 genetic traits that can show you how to avoid unwanted side effects and promote health benefits, including the genetic risk of cannabis dependence, psychosis risk from cannabis use and inherent pain threshold.
“By using 4Twenty you can learn more about your optimal CBD-to-THC ratio. Your results will decode the information in your genes to recommend personalised dosing for medical use, removing the guesswork. Our report details Metabolism & Dosing, Pain Management, Sleep, Side Effects and Anxiety & Stress to ensure your experience is optimal and safe.
“VividyYou, our Psychedelic DNA test examines key genetic variants relevant to the efficacy, safety, and nuances of metabolism and affinity of 9 psychedelic substances. By understanding how genetics affects our response to psychedelic substances, we can pave the way for safer, more effective, and more personalised therapeutic interventions. The results will inform optimal and safer use of the following 9 substances: MDMA, Psilocybin, DMT, Mescaline, Ketamine, Ibogaine, LSD, Salvia and Cannabis.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Bermuda Cannabis Association, being their first product to obtain the official seal of approval. These products are crucial for ensuring that anyone can use medicinal cannabis and psychedelics safely, tailored to their unique genetic profile. You can purchase these kits directly from our website at carigenetics.com/4twenty or carigenetics.com/vividlyyou. Order in the next month for our 15% launch discount.
“We at CariGenetics are committed to advancing personalised health and empowering individuals with the knowledge they need. I encourage everyone to reach out to us for more information and to explore collaboration opportunities.”
Ms. Robinson said, “Thank you, Dr. Weldon. Today marks a significant milestone in our journey towards better understanding and safer use of cannabis through genetic testing. The collaboration between the Bermuda Cannabis Association and CariGenetics underscores the importance of scientific research and innovation in advancing our knowledge of cannabis and psychedelics. Through our workshops, stakeholder summits and the upcoming Medical Conference we aim to educate lawmakers, and other stakeholders to ensure informed decision-making throughout this process.
“The 4Twenty and VividlyYou testing kits are groundbreaking tools that will provide individuals with valuable insights, promoting safer and more informed use. We are proud of the significant work being done and look forward to the positive impact these products will have on our community. Thank you all for being here today and for your continued support.”
