[Updated] The Bermuda Olympic Association [BOA] is holding a press conference this afternoon [July 8] to formally announce the team for the 2024 Olympics in Paris. We will have additional coverage later on and in the meantime the live video is below.

Update 2.12pm: The Olympic team was officially announced, with eight athletes set to represent Bermuda in the Olympics; Jah-Nhai Perinchief, Adriana Penruddocke, Tyler Smith, Dame Flora Duffy, Erica Hawley, Emma Harvey, Jack Harvey and Dara Alizadeh. The Paralympics, which actually has a separate governing body, take place after the Olympics, and Bermuda will also have two athletes in that, with Jessica Lewis and Yushae DeSilva-Andrade set to represent the island, so between the Olympics and Paralympics, Bermuda is fielding a 10 strong team, a very impressive accomplishment for a small island.

Update: A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Olympic Association is pleased to announce the selection of Team Bermuda for the upcoming Paris Olympic Games that begin with the Opening Ceremony on July 26, 2024. Representing five sports, each athlete has successfully met the qualifying standards to compete in the premier sports event in the world, the Olympic Games. The selection of these eight athletes is a tribute to their commitment and hard work in preparation for the games.
