Field Hockey: Venezuela Defeat Bermuda 6-1
Bermuda’s Women’s National Field Hockey team concluded their group stage at the Central American and Caribbean [CAC] Games Qualifying Tournament with a 6-1 loss to Venezuela.
Venezuela took an early 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Patricia Mujika in the 12th minute and Yamileth Pargas in the 15th minute.
Mujika extended Venezuela’s lead in the second period, scoring from a penalty corner in the 26th minute. Mariannys Gonzalez added a fourth goal for Venezuela in the 30th minute, making the score 4-0 at halftime.
Mujika scored her third goal in the 39th minute via another penalty corner, increasing Venezuela’s lead to 5-0. Bermuda’s Jessica Hollis scored from a penalty stroke in the 45th minute, bringing the score to 5-1.
Gonzalez scored her second goal of the match in the 60th minute, securing a 6-1 victory for Venezuela.
Bermuda’s starting lineup included Christina Stephen-Weser, Alyssa De Silva, Georgia Harris, Elizabeth Stewart, Grace Lightowler, Jessica Hollis, Chrysda Smith, Robin Stempel, Megan Troake, Abigail Brewer, and Jennifer Chisnall. Substitutes were Mackenzie Heaney, Cindi Davis, Elizabeth Davidson, Amber McHigh, and Zaynab Brown.
Venezuela’s starting lineup featured Yamileth Pargas, Marioska Peralta, Keila Farias, Mariannys Gonzalez, Patricia Mujika, Maria Artigas, Yurami Navas, Yhorlainy Rojas, Julie Artigas, Victoria Torres, and Eva Montes. Substitutes included Jessica Melendaz, Doriannys Tovar, Valentina Luismar, Irismar Vargas, and Zaisbel Marin.
