Both athletes are making their Olympic debuts. Bermuda will be represented by eight athletes in five different sports at the Games.

Katura Horton-Perinchief, the Bermuda chef de mission, said: “The opportunity to carry the Bermuda flag into an Olympic stadium is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious honours the Bermuda Olympic Association can bestow upon an athlete.

“Adriana and Jah-Nhai, as brand-new additions to the Olympic fraternity, will represent the island with pride, showcasing the beauty and diversity of the breadth of sporting talent Bermuda has to offer the globe.

“They are two of Bermuda’s best and I’m truly ecstatic for both of them.”

The opening ceremony is expected to take place on the banks of the River Seine – the first time it has been held outside a stadium.

“The Olympics gets underway with the opening ceremony, being broadcast exclusively on NBC and Peacock,” a spokesperson added.
