Junior Cycling Team Compete In Saint Martin
The Bermuda Junior Cycling team competed at the Individual Time Trial at the Junior Caribbean Road Championships in Saint Martin.
A spokesperson said, “Despite challenging weather conditions, our young athletes delivered strong performances against tough competition.
“The morning began with thunder and lightning, creating wet and tricky conditions on the roads. As the storm passed, the roads were semi-dry by the time our Bermuda riders hit the course, adding an extra layer of difficulty to an already demanding race.
Race Results:
“Charlotte Millington: Competing as one of the youngest in the Junior category, Charlotte narrowly missed the podium, finishing in an impressive 4th place.
“Skye Ferguson: Skye put in a strong ride, securing 5th place overall in the Pre-Junior female category.
“Andrew Ferguson and Zachery Moniz: Both Andrew and Zachery, among the youngest competitors in Pre-Junior male category, showed great determination and skill in their first Championship event.
“The competition level at these Championships is exceptionally high, with top cyclists from major cycling nations like Guadeloupe and Martinique participating. Despite this, our Bermuda team demonstrated their potential and resilience, making their mark on the international stage.
“The BBA is immensely proud of these young athletes and their performances in such challenging conditions. Competition continues tomorrow with the road race. Stay tuned for further updates as our team continues to represent Bermuda with pride and determination in Saint Martin.”
