Men’s Bowling Team To Compete In Nevada
Bermuda’s national men’s bowling team leave the island this week for the Pan American Championships in Reno Nevada.
The tournament runs from August 18th – 24th, 2024 and will be held in the prestigious National Bowling Stadium.
The team of David Maycock, Lamar Richardson, Dayvon Tucker, Damien Matthews, Michael Honoroe, and Anthony Hayward will compete in Men’s Singles, Doubles, Trios, and the prestigious 5 men team event. Each event will consist of 6 qualifying games to determine who wins gold, silver and bronze. The team will be up against 25 countries from the Western Hemisphere including overall favorites team USA.
The event will also serve as a warm up for Maycock, Richardson, Tucker, Honoroe and Riley who will be heading to the Bowling World Cup in Hong Kong in January. Manager Steven Riley is confident of the team putting up a good showing as he states he has been impressed in what he is seeing in their training sessions.
The team have been busy training the last few months adjusting to various different lane patterns and sharpening up their games as each member knows the task ahead will be very tough as they aim for success with the hope of bringing home a medal or two.
All members of the team have a wealth of international experience having represented Bermuda in various international events in the past. Matthews bought home a bronze medal at the 2010 CAC games in the singles event. Matthews and Maycock also bought home a silver medal in the 2018 CAC games in the men’s trios. Richardson, Matthews and Maycock bought home several medals from the 2019 Island games in Gibraltar. Hayward and Honoroe will be making their international debut.
