The Bermuda Bicycle Association [BBA] marked its 50th Anniversary in style with a weekend of racing.

A spokesperson said, “The 50th Anniversary Omnium, a three-stage cycling event, attracted riders of all ages and abilities, offering a fantastic showcase of Bermuda’s vibrant cycling community.

“The Omnium consisted of three unique races: a Hill Climb in St. George’s, a Criterium on the streets of Hamilton, and a Circuit Race in Southside. Riders could participate in one, two, or all three events, earning points based on their performance in each race. The cumulative points determined the overall winners, making it a true test of endurance, skill, and strategy.

Stage 1: St. George’s Hill Climb

“The weekend kicked off with a challenging Hill Climb in St. George’s on Saturday, August 31. The Corporation of St. George’s ensured a safe race by closing adjacent roads, allowing riders to focus on the steep ascent up Government Hill Road. With 20 riders across seven categories, the competition was fierce.

“Notable performances included 14-year-old Dylan Eiselt, who posted the 6th fastest time overall, signaling his potential as a future star. In the Open category, Matt Boys, Jackson Langley, and Zander Miller set the pace, dominating the leaderboard.
