As part of the global observance of Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, Bermuda will officially launch its month-long campaign to raise awareness and promote community engagement in tackling the issue of domestic abuse.

Under the theme, “Empowering Communities to Break the Cycle of Abuse,” the campaign will focus on uniting individuals, families, and organisations to work together in building a safer, more supportive Bermuda.

A spokesperson said: “The public is invited to join the Ministry of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, with the support of the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Committee [MARAC] at City Hall, Hamilton, on Tuesday, October 1 2024 from 12 pm to 2 pm for the proclamation launch event.

“This event will be an opportunity for survivors, advocates, community leaders, and the general public to come together in solidarity to raise awareness and encourage those affected to seek support.

“Domestic abuse takes many forms—whether physical, emotional, psychological, or financial—and impacts lives in profound and lasting ways.

“This month, we are committed to empowering individuals to speak out, offering resources for survivors, and educating the public about the warning signs of abuse.

“This proclamation is a call to action for all Bermudians to get involved, raise their voices, and take steps to address the root causes of domestic abuse.”
