Jackson Inspired By NYC Model Experience
[Written by Stephen Wright]
Sancho Jackson has reflected on his “inspiring experience” strutting down the catwalk at the recent New York Fashion Week Festival.
The 22-year-old was selected to participate in The Model Experience, a coveted programme that offers aspiring models the chance to walk the runway, collaborate with brands and designers, share the stage with A-list talent, and receive virtual model coaching.
Jackson, encouraged by his mother, Sarah Jackson, submitted a no-filter selfie and his measurements to secure his place in the show.
“It was a great experience,” Jackson told Bernews. “I was watching the fashion show for an hour or so before I was due to walk.
“It seemed like the models were on the catwalk for ages but when you do it, it’s over so quickly. I wanted to turn around and do it again!”
Jackson took to the runway on Friday [September 13] at the Armory Arena in Manhattan, where he showcased a custom outfit designed by Austin Guyett, the designer behind the brand By A Guy.
The designer had created a piece tailored specifically to Jackson’s measurements.
“It was such a quick turnaround from him getting my measurements and making the piece,” said Jackson, who lives in Birmingham, England. “It looked and felt great.”
As for the lessons he learned about runway modelling, Jackson said: “It comes down to being comfortable and being yourself.
“The ideas and creativity of some of the people I met was inspiring.”
Jackson said he is open for further modelling opportunities to come his way.
“I’d one hundred per cent do it again,” added Jackson, who took part in a fashion show at the Ruth Seaton James Auditorium at CedarBridge Academy as a youngster.
“I have a creative side, and it definitely inspired me.”
