Azores President Bolieiro To Visit Bermuda

President of the Azores José Manuel Bolieiro is set to visit Bermuda to help celebrate the 175th Anniversary of the first arrival of Portuguese emigrants to Bermuda.

A spokesperson said, “The “175th Portuguese Commemorations Committee” wishes to let the public know that the President of the Azores, José Manuel Bolieiro, will be visiting Bermuda to help celebrate the 175th Anniversary of the first arrival of Portuguese emigrants to Bermuda.

“The highlight of his weekend will be a Cocktail Reception and Dinner where the President will be the guest of honour. This will take place on Saturday, 2 November 2024 at the Grotto Bay Beach Resort, starting at 6:30 pm.

“The event will also feature a musical performance by Jessica Amaro, a popular Portuguese-Canadian entertainer, together with performances from the Casa dos Açores Children’s Folklore Group, Gombey Evolution Troupe and the Vasco da Gama Club Folklore Group.

“President Bolieiro and his delegation will be arriving in Bermuda on the morning of Saturday, 2 November 2024 on the 10:35 am JetBlue flight. The Committee encourages as many members of the public as possible to come out to give the President a warm, Bermudaful welcome.

“The public should also note that President Bolieiro will be attending mass at the Portuguese service being held at St Theresa’s Cathedral at 10 am on Sunday, 3 November. Congregants and other guests are welcome to attend and celebrate with him. There will also be a coffee social immediately after the service for anyone who was in attendance.

“During his visit, President Bolieiro is also expected to visit the Governor, the Premier and various Government Ministers. He will also take part in private receptions hosted by Honorary Consul of Portugal in Bermuda, Casa dos Açores da Bermuda, the Vasco da Gama Club and the Portuguese Cultural Association.”
