Clyde Best Film Encore Tour Set For Oct 6-10
Bermudian football legend Clyde Best will return to the island from October 6 to October 10 for an encore tour of the documentary Transforming the Beautiful Game: The Clyde Best Story.
A spokesperson said, “Football pioneer Clyde Best returns to Bermuda from October 6–10, 2026, with the Encore Tour of the award-winning documentary Transforming the Beautiful Game: The Clyde Best Story, placing education at the heart of a global journey celebrating Bermuda’s sporting and cultural heritage.
“The tour features 11 public screenings across five days at BUEI, Bermuda College, Grotto Bay Beach Resort & Spa and Media Lounge at Dockyard, alongside educational outreach designed to inspire the next generation.
“Thanks to Dr. Sajni Tolaram, Professor of English and Film Studies at Bermuda College and Narrative Consultant – Bermuda for the documentary, 100 complimentary seats have been allocated to Bermuda College students for the October 7 and 8 matinee screenings, with 50 seats available at each 2:30 p.m. showing.
“Best continues to serve as a global ambassador for Bermuda through a film tour connecting sport, education, culture, arts and entertainment. His community engagement has included the Miller Insurance-sponsored DaRock Elite Academy and West Ham United youth football camp with Danté Leverock, an address to adult education graduates, and visits with young footballers at Trevo Academy.
“His April outreach also included documentary screenings and discussions at Westgate Correctional Facility in Dockyard and the Prison Farm and Co-Educational Facility in St George’s. Organized by Dennis Brown, President of the Bermuda Football Coaches Association, the visits brought Best’s message of resilience and personal growth to inmates.”
Mr. Brown said, “Clyde’s story inspired me and countless others on this island.”
The spokesperson said, “Best remains actively involved with Bermuda’s youth football community, presenting awards at the Kappa Classic and Bermuda Triangle Cup. His legacy is also being celebrated throughout the 2026–27 domestic football season, with commemorative coins sponsored by Butterfield Bank being used by the Bermuda Football Association for captains’ coin tosses.
“The October educational program includes collaboration with Citizens Uprooting Racism in Bermuda (CURB), with engagement from the Ministry of Education, including Minister Diallo Rabain and Dr. Shannon Rose, Education Officer for the Arts. It connects Best’s experiences confronting racial discrimination in English football with lessons in resilience, perseverance and the lifelong importance of education.
“Bermuda College and Warwick Academy join educational institutions including CedarBridge Academy, whose students have experienced the documentary and participated in discussions with Best.
“The cultural initiative also extends through Walls of Inspiration: Where Cultural Memory Becomes Living Legacy, Egan’s companion documentary featuring Bermudian artist and lifelong educator Barbara Dillas, whose murals celebrate the island’s sporting heroes and cultural identity.
“The Clyde Best Educational Initiative is supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Transport, Culture and Sport, Centennial Fund, Bermuda Foundation, Bermuda Football Association, and the Charles and Lesley Marshall Fund for Football. During the April Bermuda premiere, Hamilton and Sandys Rotary Clubs funded 100 complimentary tickets for the Gina Spence Program and Family Centre.”
Speaking at the film’s Tour Announcement and Preview Gala at Cambridge Beaches in November 2025, Minister Owen Darrell said, “The Government of Bermuda is happy to support this film. This documentary ensures that Clyde Best’s legacy will reach audiences around the world.”
Producer and director Dan Egan said, “Everywhere we go, Clyde is an ambassador for Bermuda. His story is a powerful example of how authentic storytelling can promote tourism, sharing the island’s people, culture and heritage with audiences around the world.
“But the lasting impact is education. Sport can open doors, but education provides the foundation for a lifetime. We’re committed to bringing that message into Bermuda’s classrooms and communities.”
The spokesperson said, “The educational initiative expands internationally this December with confirmed screenings and student discussions at Brooks School in Massachusetts, Bridgton Academy in Maine and Proctor Academy in New Hampshire.”

The spokesperson said, “Additional Bermuda educational screenings are being scheduled for November and December 2026 and January 2027. The documentary returns to Bermuda following international recognition, including the Roxbury Audience Favorite Award and BronzeLens Best International Film Award.
