Mirrors Hosts Cultivating Connections Workshop
Today’s workshop is about equipping each of you with the tools and strategies to create meaningful, lasting connections—connections that help our young people feel valued, understood, and empowered,” said Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors Tinee Furbert, at the second Parent, Educator, and Youth Worker Workshop held on Saturday, October 19th at Willowbank.
A spokesperson said, “The Mirrors Programme, in partnership with Quantum Learning Global, successfully hosted the event “Cultivating Connections,” which brought together a diverse group of parents, educators, and youth workers committed to strengthening Bermuda’s young people. The workshop was an enriching day filled with learning, collaboration, and community building, all aimed at equipping participants with essential skills to make lasting impacts on the young people they serve.
“Reflecting on the success of February’s inaugural workshop, Minister Furbert highlighted the Ministry’s ongoing dedication to nurturing youth development programmes and ensuring that adults who work closely with young people are empowered with the tools they need to guide them toward brighter futures. “Our youth deserve to feel valued and supported, and today’s event is about reinforcing the strong network of parents, educators, and community leaders who play a crucial role in their lives,” the Minister stated.
“The “Cultivating Connections” workshop was designed as more than just a training—it is a community-driven experience that celebrates the vital role of relationships in youth development. Through interactive sessions, participants explored best practices for fostering emotional resilience and social growth in young people. The atmosphere of collaboration and shared purpose was palpable, as attendees engaged with one another to explore innovative approaches to education and youth engagement.
“The event provided four key areas of focus:
- Practical strategies for creating strong, supportive connections with youth,
- Techniques for developing the social and emotional capacity of young people,
- Collaborative opportunities to strengthen bonds among parents, educators, and youth workers,
- Innovative ideas for youth development and education that emphasize holistic growth.
Mirrors Programme Manager Kim Jackson expressed her pride in the event’s success and the community’s continued support. “It’s inspiring to see such a wide range of people—parents, educators, youth workers—come together with a shared commitment to improving the lives of our young people. This is how we create lasting change—through unity, shared knowledge, and a deep dedication to the next generation.” Participants left the workshop with practical skills and a renewed sense of purpose, eager to implement their learned strategies.
Minister Furbert added, “The Ministry of Youth, Social Development and Seniors is proud to support initiatives like this, which reflect Bermuda’s strong, community-driven commitment to empowering youth. The Mirrors Programme continues to play a vital role in shaping the future by equipping those who guide our youth with the skills to nurture and inspire them.”
