Field hockey fever swept across Bermuda this month as nearly 500 students from primary and middle schools competed in the annual interschool field hockey tournament.

A spokesperson said, “A collaboration between the Bermuda Hockey Federation [BHF] and the Bermuda School Sports Federation [BSSF], the event brought together young athletes from both public and private schools in a celebration of sportsmanship and competition.

“The tournament, featuring fast-paced 6-a-side games, showcased the island’s up-and-coming field hockey talent. Thanks to the BHF’s initiative, every participating school received field hockey sticks, ensuring that the sport is introduced and taught in Physical Education classes across the island. This effort is part of a larger push to grow field hockey at the grassroots level, giving students the opportunity to learn and fall in love with the game.

“This year’s tournament not only highlighted the talent and enthusiasm of Bermuda’s youth but also underscored the growing popularity of field hockey across the island. With continued support from the BHF and BSSF, the sport is sure to flourish in schools and beyond.
