Norwegian Epic Diverts For Medical Emergency
The Norwegian Epic cruise ship – which was traveling from the Azores to Port Canaveral, Florida — diverted to Bermuda to disembark a crew member with suspected appendicitis.
A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre [BMOC] spokesperson said, “The shipping agent for the passenger ship Norwegian Epic contacted RCC Bermuda to advise the ship on passage from the Azores to Port Canaveral intends to divert to Bermuda to disembark a crew member with a suspected appendicitis.
“The crew member, escorted by a member of the ships medical team, disembarked onto the pilot / recue boat St David to be transported to an ambulance waiting at Ordnance Island, St George. The ship continued its passage to Port Canaveral.”
