Bermuda’s top track and field athletes and swimmers will hope to compete at the scaled-down Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2026.

The Scottish city, which hosted the event in 2014, stepped in to stage the multi-event competition after the Australian state of Victoria withdrew last year.

The Games will feature a ten-sport programme, including athletics, swimming, track cycling, gymnastics, netball, weightlifting, boxing, judo, bowls and 3×3 basketball.

There will also be para-events in athletics, swimming, track cycling, weightlifting, bowls and basketball.

Among the sports missing out compared to the previous Games in Birmingham are triathlon, diving and squash.

A Bermuda team of 17 athletes competed in Birmingham, where Dame Flory Duffy won the gold medal in the women’s triathlon and Jah-Nhai Perinchief claimed bronze in the men’s triple jump.

The Games will take place from July 23 to August 2, 2026.
