Dennis Mbelenzi To Miss PwC Marathon
A new champion will be crowned in the PwC Bermuda Marathon next Sunday [January 19] after two-time winner Dennis Mbelenzi confirmed he will not defend his title.
Mbelenzi, a Kenyan-born runner and former Bermuda resident, has dominated the event in recent years, claiming back-to-back victories.
Last year, he crossed the line in 2hr 42min 44sec, having debuted in 2023 when he completed the 26.2-mile race in 2:29:55.
The new course record, set by American Bryan Morseman in 2020, is 2:28:52.
Mbelenzi, who lives in Nova Scotia, Canada, told Bernews he had been forced to shelve his plans to travel to the island to compete because of a “conflict schedule”.
