Minister Apologizes After Press Conference
Minister Owen Darrell has issued an apology for the “abrupt ending” of the PLP press conference today [Jan 30] stating “it is important to address questions from the media” and “I unreservedly apologise.”
This follows after the Minister, along with PLP MP Jache Adams, left the press conference today as one reporter was still trying to pose questions.
In a statement issued this evening, Minister Owen Darrell stated, “Today’s PLP Press conference did not end up in the way that it should have, and on behalf of the Progressive Labour Party, I apologise for the abrupt ending.
“Regardless of how they are received by the party or its candidates, it is important to address questions from the media. I unreservedly apologise and will continue to represent the PLP and the residents of Constituency 15 to the best of my ability.”
A spokesperson from the PLP stated, “The Progressive Labour Party acknowledges and fully supports this apology from Minister Darrell. We stand behind the commitment to ensuring positive interactions with the media and the public.
“As we move forward, we remain dedicated to upholding the highest standard of engagement in all interactions, particularly during this election season.”

Embarrassing. You and all your cronies should resign. Please do so.
Dude is pathetic, needs to go. Embarrassing, arrogant and disrespectful.
Apologizing does not make it acceptable.
And this is the level politics globally has shrunken. Somehow we forget these are humans beings first and then Government officials.
This must be the lowest ever levels Bda politics has dropped to from damaging videos accusatory voicenotes to outright disrespect of persons.
Bermuda we must query have we reached the bottom? We are the platforms? Updates for overseas citizens on voting? Decency on behalf of our people???
His handlers approve of this message.
Immaturity at its best.
Very symptomatic behaviour of the current government.
Get called out on inconsistencies. DEFLECT!
Get asked about what it is you’ve done. MISLEAD!
Get asked simple questions about anything in general. RUN!
This press conference alone is strong evidence that Bermuda has morphed into an idiocracy.
Mr. Apathy, are you seriously suggesting that politicians should take responsibility for their actions?
Pathetic and childish. Seems someone off camera told them to leave as they were only able to read from a script and unable to respond to questions from reporters. It’s just an extension of Burt refusing to answer questions. Have they forgotten the how the PLP have created a new influx of PRC holders with no connection to Bermuda (per EIRC) but at least $2.5m to invest? Bring in the rich, mostly white, foreigners, not expats who have been here 15+ years, that’s the PLP way. No wonder so many Bermudians have to leave because they can’t afford to stay. This is the PLP Bermuda 2.0.
He’s embarrassing in real life and in government lmfaoooooo! Can’t make it up hahaha
So have they answered the questions?
There are real answers and each of the real answers exposes the PLP to be liars and manipulators.
All you have to do is look at are the roads, no respect for there country and there fellow islanders.
More like look closer at how a 95% white party is running black men as frontline candidates. Funny how this same political parties supporters are calling the government racist, when every voter on both sides can see the truth.
So there are only 2 sides in Bermuda politics? Those who support “a 95% white party” and those who support a 99% black party?
