Video: FDM Candidate Desmond Crockwell
The Free Democratic Movement [FDM] is holding a press conference this afternoon [Jan 21] where they are expected to announce a candidate for the upcoming 2025 General Election. We will have additional coverage later on and in the meantime the live video is below.
Update 1.20pm: The FDM announced that Desmond Crockwell will be running in Constituency #5 Hamilton East. The PLP has won the seat with over 72% of the vote since the one seat system started in 2003, with all five of those elections won by the PLP’s Derrick Burgess. Mr Burgess has confirmed that he will not stand for re-election, so for the first time in over 20 years the area will have a new MP. Mr Crockwell also ran in this area for the FDM in the 2020 election.
This was the first official candidate rollout by the FDM, however the party is expected to announce additional candidates in the coming days. All of the candidates for the 2025 General Election will be confirmed on January 31st, which is nomination day.
