Bermuda national team footballer Luke Robinson said he is “devastated” about sustaining a serious knee injury but determined to “fight on” and make a full recovery.

Robinson injured his knee in Whitehawk’s 2-2 draw away to Carshalton Athletic in the Isthmian League Premier Division last month.

The winger, who played for Bermuda in their recent Concacaf Nations League matches in League B group D, is now awaiting surgery and preparing for the rehabilitation process.

In a heartfelt message shared on social media on Saturday [February 1], Robinson reflected on the challenges he has faced throughout his career and reaffirmed his commitment to overcoming his latest setback.

“Life will test you; it can sometimes feel like the trials just keep coming one after another,” Robinson said.

“If you feel like this you are not alone. Remind yourself of all the times you have bounced back from things that in the moment you thought you’d never overcome.

“Speaking for myself, I love football and I’ve always done the most to be the best player I can be and play at the highest level possible.

“I have bounced back from multiple injuries and surgeries, rejection, and self-doubt.

“I have proved time and time again that I have the strength to keep going. So fast forward to today, I’m in another trial, ACL rupture, surgery pending and career on hold.

“Devastated would be an understatement but having had some time to process the situation I’ve made the decision to focus on the controllables and keep fighting on. The rehab starts now, and the journey continues!”
