BE Solar has installed a solar PV system at The Reading Clinic which will help them to ”save over $8,000 annually on electricity costs” and the savings “will be reinvested directly into the charity’s programs, benefiting students for decades to come.”

A spokesperson said, “BE Solar has successfully deployed an 11.1kW solar PV system at The Reading Clinic, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Bermuda’s youth through literacy and learning support. This initiative, made possible through support from Oakley Capital Investments, exemplifies how sustainable partnerships can simultaneously reduce carbon emissions and enhance community impact.

“By installing this state-of-the-art solar system, The Reading Clinic is set to save over $8,000 annually on electricity costs and offset approximately 309 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions over the system’s 30 year lifetime. The financial savings will be reinvested directly into the charity’s programs, benefiting students for decades to come.”

“At BE Solar, we are dedicated to building bridges between international businesses with sustainability initiatives and charities seeking to lower their operating costs and carbon footprint,” said Stratton Hatfield, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at BE Solar. “This project is a great example of how strategic partnerships can create a win-win scenario—where businesses meet their sustainability goals while supporting vital community organizations.”

A Sustainable Future for The Reading Clinic

A spokesperson added, “For The Reading Clinic, the transition to solar energy aligns seamlessly with their commitment to ensure they can provide their services to the community.”

“The savings from the solar project will be reinvested into the programs and services we provide, reducing our carbon footprint while enhancing educational support for Bermuda’s children,” said Martina ‘Tina’ Harris, Executive Director of The Reading Clinic. “Thanks to the generous support of Oakley Capital Investments and BE Solar, we are significantly reducing our operating costs, allowing us to focus even more on our mission.”

A Model for Future Collaborations

A spokesperson added, “BE Solar has pioneered carbon offset programs that enable businesses to reduce their environmental footprint while directly benefiting Bermuda’s nonprofits. By leveraging sustainable solutions, BE Solar is helping organizations meet their environmental, social, and governance [ESG] targets while fostering meaningful local impact.”

“This partnership is a powerful example of what can be achieved when businesses, sustainability experts, and nonprofits work together,” Hatfield added. “We hope this serves as an inspiration for other businesses to explore how they can integrate sustainability into their corporate and community initiatives.”

A spokesperson added, “As the solar panels at The Reading Clinic are generating clean energy, this project stands as a testament to the power of collaboration in creating a more resilient and efficient Bermuda.”
