Warwick Cricket Academy Receives $1K Donation
The Warwick Cricket Academy received a $1,000 donation.
A spokesperson said, “The Warwick Cricket Academy and Dr. Douglas De Couto are pleased to announce a donation of $1,000 to the Academy. The funds will be used to support the purchase of protective gear and other kit for the Academy’s young cricketers.”
Dr. De Couto said, “When I heard about the creation of the Academy, I was immediately motivated to support their work, given that cricket is one of our national sports, and the need for more structured and supportive programmes for our youth in general. Given Warwick Workmen’s Club role in the community for over 101 years, their track record in cricket, and Warwick Academy’s continued development of sport, it was a natural decision to support this collaboration between two of Warwick’s well-known institutions.”

Mr. Lorenzo Tucker, President of Warwick Workmen’s Club said “We thank Dr. De Couto for his donation. It’s a natural reflection of what our Club has accomplished in sport and within the community and recognizes what we want to achieve with the new Cricket Academy. The funds from Dr. De Couto will be put to immediate use to ensure the young cricketers can play and train safely.”
Mr. David Horan, Principal of Warwick Academy, stated that “We are excited to work with Warwick Workmen’s Club to develop youth cricketers, while strengthening community relations in Warwick. We greatly appreciate the support from Dr. De Couto.”
The spokesperson said, “The Warwick Cricket Academy starts at age 5 for PeeWee cricketers, up to age 16, with older cricketers moving into the Warwick Workmen’s squad. The programme will start on 1st March, with a PeeWill skills event running for the month.
“For more information about the programme, please contact Mr. Richard Todd, the Academy’s Technical Director, at rtodd@warwick.bm.”
