Swimmers Shine At Short Course Championships

The National Sports Center Pool witnessed a flurry of personal bests and impressive performances as the Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association hosted its Short Course Championships, with returning students making a splash.

The event saw familiar faces back in the pool, with the likes of the Checini siblings, Marleigh Howes, and Rhys Insley all delivering strong swims. Madelyn Moore, in particular, enjoyed a stellar meet, consistently clocking personal best times.

Moore’s standout performance came in the girls 15 & over 50 SC meter butterfly A-Final. She powered through the water, touching the wall in a personal best time of 27.76 seconds. Marleigh Howes followed in second with a time of 29.00, while Elanna Fulton completed the podium with a time of 32.37.

In the boys 15 & over 50 SC meter butterfly A-Final, Logan Jones claimed victory with a time of 27.36. Noah Maranzana secured second place, clocking 28.34, and Joseph Lau finished third with a time of 29.29.

The 13-14 girls 100 SC meter freestyle A-Final saw Gaby Cechini deliver a personal best performance, winning in 1:03.83. Scarlett Spurling finished second with a time of 1:05.31, and Isla Cooze took third place with a time of 1:10.30.

Thomas Cechini dominated the boys 15 & over 100 SC meter freestyle A-Final, winning in 52.32 seconds. Logan Jones secured his second podium finish of the day, taking second place with a time of 54.79. Jamie MacFarlane rounded out the top three with a time of 59.02.
