Jah-Nhai Perinchief Wins Triple Jump Elite
Jah-Nhai Perinchief claimed victory in the Olympic development men’s triple jump elite event at the prestigious Penn Relays in Philadelphia.
Perinchief, who represented Bermuda at the Olympic Games in Paris last summer, dominated the field at the oldest and largest track and field competition in the United States, with a best leap of 16.86 metres [55ft 3 and three-quarter ins].
His winning jump came on his second attempt.
Kaiwan Culmer, of the Bahamas, finished second with a leap of 16.41, and Jamaica’s Chevaughn Parkinson was third with a jump of 16.16.
It marked the first time the Olympic Development Triple Jump has been contested at the Penn Relays since 1968, making Perinchief the modern standard record holder for the event.
