Bermuda Defeat Panama 9-0 In CAC Qualifier

Bermuda’s Women’s National Field Hockey team recorded an impressive victory in the Central American and Caribbean [CAC] Games Qualifying Tournament with a decisive 9-0 win against Panama.

Bermuda’s starting lineup included Christina Stephens-Weser, Alyssa De Silva, Georgia Harris, Elizabeth Stewart, Grace Lightowler, Jessica Hollis, Chrysda Smith, Robin Stempel, Megan Troake, Abigail Brewer, and Jennifer Chisnall. Substitutes were Mackenzie Heaney, Cindi Davis, Elizabeth Davidson, Amber McHugh, and Zaynab Brown.

Panama’s starting lineup featured Heidy Bonilla, Ashlee Miranda, Anabel Ballester, Yanina De Gracia, Arelis Ibarra, Rut Gonzalez, Caroline Adames, Kersthy Montenegro, Joanys Miranda, Hanna Sanchez, and Angelyth Vargas. Substitutes were Mary De Leon, Yoskely Caballero, Génesis Rojas, and Thays Sanchez.

Bermuda opened the scoring in the 6th minute when Abigail Brewer assisted Georgia Harris. Jessica Hollis then assisted Megan Troake for Bermuda’s second goal in the 14th minute. Troake scored again in the 23rd minute from a penalty corner and completed a hat-trick in the 25th minute. Hollis added Bermuda’s fifth goal in the 29th minute from a penalty corner, establishing a 5-0 lead at halftime.

In the second half, substitute Mackenzie Heaney scored in the 35th minute from a penalty corner. Brewer scored a field goal in the 45th minute, followed by Grace Lightowler in the 52nd minute from a penalty corner. Megan Troake scored her fourth goal at full time, securing the 9-0 victory for Bermuda.
