Ministry: Register For Cost Of Living Summit
The Ministry of Home Affairs is encouraging residents, entrepreneurs, and business owners to register for Bermuda’s first Cost of Living Summit, set for June 25, at the Hamilton Princess.
A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Home Affairs invites members of the public, including small and medium sized business owners, and entrepreneurs to register for the island’s first ever Cost of Living Summit, taking place on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at the Hamilton Princess.
“The Summit is organised in a direct response to the growing economic pressures faced by Bermudians and will bring together government public officers, industry leaders, and community stakeholders to explore these challenges and design actionable, data driven solutions.
“Those who attend will:
- “Hear recent findings from Bermuda’s Cost of Living Public and Business Surveys, which gathered insights from over 2,200 participants;
- “Engage in sector specific panels featuring leaders in food distribution, utilities, imports, healthcare, and housing; and
- “Help shape the future of Bermuda’s economy through open dialogue and collaborative policy development.”
The Minister of Home Affairs Alexa Lightbourne who is leading this initiative, stressed that, “Behind every statistic, there’s a Bermudian family, senior, young person or single parent trying to navigate the challenges associated with rising costs. This Summit is about turning pressure into progress and ensuring that no one is left behind. This is a free event, but registration is required as space is limited.
“We encourage all interested individuals to sign up and participate and contribute to this critical conversation.”
A Government spokesperson added, “Members of the public can visit this link to sign up Register for Cost of Living Summit.
“The deadline for registration is June 23, 2025.

I do not understand why we need this. Our reported rate of retail price inflation over the last 5 years has consistently been lower than that of the U.S., the U.K. and Canada. We should be the envy of the world.
Why not organise a summit so that Jason Hayward can explain our economic miracle to the rest of the world?
This must be satire… The cost of water here is $5+ per gallon… The cost of gasoline in the US o_O
Hmm, the cost of a gallon of water here cost more than a gallon of gas in the USA…
No. It is not satire at all.
Read what our Premier and our Minister of Economy have reported in relation to our retail price inflation over the past 5 years and then compare our reported results with those of the U.S., U.K. and Canada for the same periods of time. You will see that our reported rate of retail price inflation over the last 5 years has consistently been lower than that of the U.S., the U.K. and Canada, the places from where we obtain most retails goods.
And you cannot fairly compare the price of something (such as water or fuel) in Bermuda to the same thing United States.
What they have reported is lies @Joe BLoggs. Everyone who gets an inflationary based pay increase got less than they should have for a number of years because of this governments lies. this has mad the poorer poorer and contributed to destroying the middle class, which is what the PLP want. PLP elites bathing in their wealth, while voters scrabble for crumbs and vote the PLP back in based on subjected buzz word platforms like “fairness” that have no measurable benchmarks to assess if they have been delivered. They will claim they have delivered and the voting population will suck it up.
So do i win a prize to sit down and listen to what i already know? And nothing will come out of this anyway!
Dear Alexia Lightbourne you have got to solve the hate problem here first. then may be ?
Because some body shut may computer down and i know who ,you all have lost the benifit of my comments no body is asking you to agree, we all know what the game is here and we are loosing and that is not good .
just make the best out of very thing , is that so hard !?
Team work always wlns lot of that team left Bermuda .
Shall we start a new book of mistakes
Bermuda has go to run like a business where we note the consequences .
You want to know what they are .Well i want the best for Bermuda and. all her people I will fight for that, and the only way that will work is we all stop the division between us all . we are what we are and what we are going to be we and not what you may think we are .
The super great P.L.P. is running scared they can no fight public opinion and the vote ,they know that they are hurting their own, it is not black and white any more that we out the door years ago . that is over .
so if you all want progress you have to work hard for it sop being leader and start being workers .
Potations are people just like you and i, just people ,you are not going to have your job in Government for ever .
What are you going tp do tomorrow when there is no tomorrow ,drive the bus or taxi . stay home a pull weeds .
We have competition in everything that we try to do.
