Lincoln Foundation Supports Family Centre YLA
Family Centre has received a generous grant from the Lincoln Financial Foundation in support of its Youth Leadership Academy [YLA] programme.
A spokesperson said, “Family Centre is proud to acknowledge the generous support of the Lincoln Financial Foundation, the philanthropic organization of Lincoln Financial [LNC], which has awarded a financial grant towards our Youth Leadership Academy [YLA] programme.
“This generous investment comes at a critical time when many young people in Bermuda are facing serious mental health and social challenges. YLA is a three-phase youth development programme that supports students from middle school through high school to build confidence, resilience, and leadership skills.”
“We are deeply grateful to the Lincoln Financial Foundation for their commitment to empowering youth through equitable access to opportunity,” said Dr. Sandy De Silva, Executive Director of Family Centre. “Their generosity ensures that youth have access to transformational support, mentorship, and opportunities that prepare them to thrive in school, work, and life at no cost to their families. Together, we are helping youth realize their potential and build pathways to successful, self-sustaining futures.”
The spokesperson said, “Family Centre’s YLA directly aligns with this vision by preparing youth to graduate from high school, pursue post-secondary goals, and enter the workforce with practical skills and confidence. Through YLA’s ‘Building My Future’ summer internship programme, YLA youth engage in paid summer internships where they receive workforce training, build financial literacy, and gain real-world experience that lays the foundation for long-term employment and independence.
“YLA also includes one-on-one therapeutic support, family engagement, social and emotional skill building, academic coaching, volunteerism, and community leadership opportunities. Thanks to funding from partners like the Lincoln Financial Foundation, the programme is free of charge to families.
