The Human Rights Education Network [HuRen] — a non-profit organization dedicated to equipping Bermuda youth with the knowledge, skills and attitude for Human Rights advocacy – has officially launched.

A spokesperson said, “Founded in February 2025 by former Amnesty International Chairperson and Human Rights educator, Francoise Palau-Wolffe, the Human Rights Education Network consists of a diverse and inter-generational group of local and international Human Rights experts, researchers and community activists who share a passion for equity and youth empowerment.”

“Cooperation and accessibility are at the center of our approach. Over the past months, we have liaised with local and international representatives in the advancement of Human Rights and are very pleased with the response so far” said Founder and Executive Director, Françoise Palau-Wolffe. “We encourage like minded organisations to join our network to help us develop a context-relevant educational model for Bermuda”.

The spokesperson said, “HuRen will initially target Bermuda youth aged 18-30. Although our Human Rights training is open to everyone, we especially welcome young participants who are willing to pass on what they’ve learned to their peers. By doing so, we aim to create a ripple effect and broaden the impact within the community.

“When asked what motivated the HuRen’s team to set up this new organisation, Mrs. Palau- Wolffe evokes the critical times we are living in and the need to amplify the promise of a Human Rights framework which is currently under attack in many jurisdictions.

“Local organisations have worked wonders in their respective niche areas, but HuRen believes that we can even go further by creating collectively a National Human Rights Education Strategy for Bermuda youth”.

“In October 2025, Huren will introduce two important initiatives which are the fruit of key local and international partnerships which the organisation is extremely grateful for.
