Skyport: TSA Shoe Policy Change Only In USA

July 9, 2025 | 0 Comments

The recent announcement from the U.S. Transportation Security Administration [TSA] that they will no longer require all passengers to take their shoes off does not include “any U.S. Pre-clearance airports, including L.F. Wade International Airport” and “currently applies only to airports within the United States.”

A spokesperson said, “In light of the recent announcement from the U.S. Transportation Security Administration [TSA] regarding the removal of the requirement to take off shoes during security screening, Skyport would like to clarify that this change currently applies only to airports within the United States.

“At this time, the TSA has not extended the footwear allowance to any U.S. Pre-clearance airports, including L.F. Wade International Airport.

“That said, Skyport fully supports initiatives that enhance the passenger experience. Skyport currently uses advanced CT scanning equipment at L.F. Wade International Airport, allowing passengers to leave electronic devices such as laptops and tablets, as well as liquids and gels under 3.4 ounces [100 millimetres], in their carry-on bags when proceeding through security.

“Skyport is actively working to introduce other processing and IT equipment solutions like the CT scanner, which prioritize security, ease, and comfort for our passengers.

“Skyport remains in close communication with TSA and is readily equipped to implement the footwear allowance should the TSA extend the rule change to US Pre-clearance airports.”
