Bermuda Impress At Carifta Triathlon Event
Bermuda has been crowned the overall champion of the Carifta Triathlon Championships, a title secured through a dominant team performance in Trinidad and Tobago.
The team’s success was highlighted on the final day of competition with a silver and bronze medal finish in the Mixed Team Relays. The silver medal team consisted of Riana Robinson, Dylan Eiselt, Naomi McGuinness, and Jackson Langley. Securing the bronze was the team of Maddy Schindel, Gianluca Bortoli, Sofia LeClerc, and Sanchez Smith.
Bermudian athletes also earned multiple individual medals in the aquathlon events.
Rory Shepard captured a gold medal in the Boy’s 13-15 Aquathlon, completing the 500-meter swim and 2.5-kilometer run in 16:15. He was followed by teammates Jasper Lau [7th], Rohan Roopra [8th], Ethan Smith [14th], Spencer Haldeman [15th], and Lucas Bule [19th].
In the Girls 13-15 Aquathlon, Madison Schindel finished in 5th place with a time of 19:30, just ahead of Zara Bule in 6th. Other finishers for Bermuda were Sofia Leclerc [9th], Riana Robinson [10th], Isla Cooze [12th], and Elena Bortoli [14th].
In the 16-21 age division, Carina Bortoli placed 4th in the women’s event with a time of 40:08, with Ella Shepherd finishing 5th. For the men, Gianluca Bortoli finished 4th, and Logan Jones placed 19th.
The cumulative results across all events secured Bermuda’s status as the high-point country and overall champion.
