Bermudian Sailors Begin UK Championships
Six junior sailors from Bermuda are taking part in the 2025 Gill IOCA UK British & Open National Championships at the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy, racing against top young talent from around the world.
Three Bermudians are in the gold fleet. Thomas Mcbain leads the group in 22nd place with 203 net points, with a best finish of 6th in the first qualifying race and 9th in the final race. Heath Meyers sits in 47th with 335 net points, posting two 9th-place finishes in the qualifiers. Miguel Leite holds 61st position with 468 net points, with two 25th-place finishes in the qualifying rounds.
In the silver fleet, Benjamin De Couto ranks 8th with 343 net points, highlighted by a 3rd-place finish in the fourth race of the final series. Alfie Jansma is 41st with 516 net points, with a best finish of 17th in the fourth final race. James De Couto is 60th with 665 net points and a best result of 28th in the final race.
