Contest III Crowned Fitted Dinghy Champion

The Royal Bermuda Yacht Club’s Contest III was crowned the overall champion of the Fitted Dinghy Racing season, which concluded in St. George’s Harbour.

Following a season of races, Contest III secured the title ahead of Challenger II from the Sandys Boat Club, which finished as the runner-up. The Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club’s Elizabeth II placed third overall, with Victory IV of the St. George’s Dinghy and Sports Club finishing fourth.

The final day of competition hosted several cup races.

In the St. George’s Dinghy and Sports Club Cup, Victory IV, skippered by Allab Frith, captured first place. Martin Siese helmed Challenger II to a second-place finish, while Mikey Wollman steered Elizabeth II to third. Season champion Contest III, skippered by Amelia Lewis, finished fourth in the race.

Siese and Challenger II later earned a win in the Victory Cup. Elizabeth II, with Azai Smith at the helm, took second place, ahead of Contest III, which was skippered by Geovanni Hayward. Frith and Victory IV placed fourth.

The Jubilee Cup, a head-to-head race between the St. George’s Dinghy and Sports Club and the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club, was won by Frith and Victory IV, defeating Wollman in Elizabeth II.

In the final race, the 400th Anniversary Cup, Challenger II, helmed by Miguel Power, secured a victory for Sandys Boat Club over the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club’s Contest III, which was skippered by Rachel Betschart.
