Albert College To Honour Craig Bridgewater
Albert College will host its annual Bermuda reception in October, providing information and celebrating its ties with the island while also honouring alumnus Craig Bridgewater for a decade of service on the school’s Board of Governors.
A spokesperson said, “Each year, Albert College representatives visit Bermuda to share information about the school, encourage enrolment, and visit with Bermudian alumni and student families. This year’s alumni and parent reception will be hosted by Albert College’s Head of School, who will also be honouring Craig Bridgewater, an Albert College alumnus who is retiring from the school’s Board of Governors after 10 years of service.
“Albert College is a leading independent Canadian high school with a long-standing relationship with Bermuda. Students can begin their journey to independence by boarding at Albert from Grades 7 to 12. The school is known for its signature Five A’s – academics, arts, athletics, active citizenship, and adventure – in which all students participate. Thanks to the Frederick Sydney Smith ’31 Trust, more than 230 Bermudians have received financial support to attend Albert.
“Parents interested in learning more about Albert College, enrolment, and scholarship opportunities are invited to attend the CAIS [Canadian Accredited Independent Schools] boarding school fair on Wednesday, October 1 from 4:30pm to 7:30pm at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.
“On Friday, October 3, the special reception to honour Craig Bridgewater is open to all Albert College alumni and friends. The reception will be hosted by Mark Musca, Head of School, Heather Kidd, Director of Enrolment Management, and Melanie Barrett, Director of Development. It will be held at the Hamilton Princess Hotel starting at 6:00pm.
“Craig Bridgewater is being honoured for his long-standing contributions to Albert College. He graduated from Albert College in 1988, and then earned an honours bachelor of arts degree in economics from Carleton University in Ottawa.
“Mr. Bridgewater is a Fellow Chartered Professional Accountant [Canada and Bermuda] and most recently served as Group Chief Financial Officer for The Bank of N.T. Butterfield & Son Limited in Bermuda. He joined the Albert College Board of Governors in 2015, serving as the Chair of the Finance Committee, and is a member of the Frederick Sydney Smith ’31 Scholarship Committee in Bermuda, which issues scholarships for the benefit of Bermuda students attending Albert College.
“Mark Musca, Head of School, shared that Mr. Bridgewater has been a trusted and respected board member throughout his tenure.”
Mr. Musca said, “Craig Bridgewater brings a unique perspective to Albert College’s board, as an alumnus, Bermudian, and financial officer. As a member of the Frederick Sydney Smith ’31 Scholarship Committee, he has also ensured that Bermudians continue to have the opportunity to attend Albert and shape our community. It will be a pleasure to recognize Mr. Bridgewater’s contributions.”
