Bermuda Karate Awards Season Champions

The Bermuda Karate Federation announced the recipients of its 2024/2025 Coral Cup Season Awards, recognizing the most outstanding athletes across senior and youth divisions.

A spokesperson said, “These honors celebrate not only athletic excellence but also the resilience, consistency, and growth shown throughout this remarkable season.

“This year’s competition calendar included major events such as the Kata Classic, Kazumi Open, Shiai, and Lepercq Memorial . Each event contributing points to the final rankings is now proudly displayed on Shotocup’s new performance tracking portal Shotocop – Martial Arts Rankings .

Tony Cabral – Adult Male Athlete of the Year

“With an impressive 230 points, Tony Cabral led the senior male division and earned the title of Adult Male Athlete of the Year. His commanding performances in kata and kobudo reflected not just experience, but continued growth and sharpness at the highest levels of competition.

Talia Fox – Adult Female Athlete of the Year

“Talia Fox finishes the season with 220 points, securing her title as Adult Female Athlete of the Year. Her technical brilliance in the black belt kata and weapons divisions has made her a consistent champion and a powerful role model for female martial artists across the island.

Mia White – Youth Female Athlete of the Year

“Youth standout Mia White earned 180 points this season and was named Youth Female Athlete of the Year. With clean technique and confidence well beyond her years, Mia has consistently impressed judges and emerged as a rising force in Bermuda’s youth karate scene.

Michael Burgess – Youth Male Athlete of the Year

“Completing the list of honorees is Michael Burgess, who scored 110 points and was named Youth Male Athlete of the Year. Known for his powerful kumite style and tactical presence, Burgess continues to be a dominant figure in the youth competitive divisions.

A Milestone Season for Bermuda Karate

“This year’s Coral Cup season was especially meaningful, as it marked the Bermuda Karate Federation’s formal recognition as a voting member of the Bermuda Olympic Association. This milestone reinforces the legitimacy and professionalism of karate in Bermuda, and BKF remains a proud contributor to that national vision through structured events, youth development, and advanced performance tracking.”
