Almost 80 Applications For BTA CEO Position

The BTA Board announced the close of the application window for its CEO recruitment, and said the ”global search, launched earlier this summer, attracted close to 80 applications from across six continents.”

A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Tourism Authority [BTA] Board of Directors today announced the successful close of the application window for its chief executive officer [CEO] recruitment, marking an important milestone in the organisation’s leadership renewal process.

“The global search, launched earlier this summer, attracted close to 80 applications from across six continents, reflecting broad international interest in the opportunity to lead Bermuda’s national tourism organisation. Applicants came from Bermuda, throughout the Caribbean, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Africa and the United Arab Emirates.”

“This level of interest underscores Bermuda’s reputation as a premier tourism destination and the significant opportunity that comes with leading the BTA during this pivotal period,” said Acting Chair William Griffith. “We are committed to a transparent and rigorous process to identify a dynamic leader who will drive our strategic vision forward.”

Next Steps in the Recruitment Process

  • Phase Two begins: Initial interviews start next week.
  • Final interviews: Expected in late September to early October.
  • Appointment: Successful candidate anticipated by late October, pending contract negotiations.

    It appears that many senior professionals in the global tourism industry are eager to leave their jobs. No doubt the salary, bonus, and perks here in Bermuda are higher than what they are currently receiving.

    I guess there are no tourism officials in Antarctica, and no one from South America is interested.
