Musical Play To Be Held At Clearwater Beach
Devils Isle Shakespeare Company is getting set to hold a musical version of Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’ at Clearwater Beach.
A spokesperson said, “Forget everything you thought you knew about Shakespeare. This weekend, Devils Isle Shakespeare Company is reimagining The Tempest as a musical under the stars at Clearwater Beach and it’s going to be unforgettable.
“For two nights only, Friday and Saturday [rain date Sunday], audiences can trade their usual dinner-and-a-movie plans for a 90-minute, high-energy performance that blends Shakespeare’s words with music, movement, and Bermuda’s own cultural flair.
“Tickets are just $35 for adults making it the island’s most affordable theatre ticket, which also includes shareable Bermudian appetizers from Sunjammers Bar & Grill. Children attend for free, making it an attractive night out for couples, families, and friends.”
Seamus Miller, Director of The Tempest, said, “Opening weekend is going to be electric. This isn’t the Shakespeare that you might remember from school. It’s alive, it’s musical, and it’s set against the waves at Clearwater Beach. We wanted to create a show unlike anything audiences have seen before and we are excited for the opening weekend.”
The spokesperson said, “Adding to the magic, Bermudian actor Emily Ross takes the stage as Ariel, bringing local talent to an international classic.”
Ms Ross said, “As a Bermudian, it’s such a thrill to step into Ariel here at home to bring this role to life in a production that’s both Shakespeare and distinctly Bermudian is magical. I’m so excited for audiences to experience the play in this way, under the stars, on our island, with a fresh new spirit.”
The spokesperson said, “The show also draws parallels between Bermuda’s own history and the themes of the play, giving audiences a fresh, almost historical introduction to the island’s beginnings. With the ocean breeze, glowing sunset, and live theatre that feels more like a celebration than a lecture, The Tempest promises to be the date night, or family night of the season.
