Daniel Phillips Advances In Doubles At Regionals
Bermudian tennis player Daniel Phillips, representing Tulane University, had a mixed day at the 2025 ITA Division I Men’s Southern Regional Championships. Phillips was defeated in a three-set singles match but advanced in the doubles competition.
In singles, Phillips lost to Billy Blaydes of Auburn University. Blaydes won the first set in a tie-break, 7-6, before Phillips rallied to win the second set, 7-5. Blaydes secured the victory by winning the decisive third set, 6-0.
Despite the singles loss, Phillips and his doubles partner, Hady Kordy, defeated the Auburn team of Jake Kennedy and Amirkhamza Nasridinov with a score of 8-5. The victory allows the Tulane duo to advance in the doubles draw.
