The Gathering: A Mid-Life Revolution Event
The Gathering was held this past weekend at Willowbank Resort, bringing together women from across the island for an inspiring celebration of midlife transformation.
A spokesperson said, “This past weekend, The Gathering unfolded as a powerful celebration of midlife transformation, drawing women from across the island to the serene Willowbank Resort. Hosted by visionary Elaine Butterfield, the conference offered a soul- stirring blend of inspiration, hope, laughter, and deep connection.
“The weekend launched with a vibrant welcome BBQ on Friday evening, where attendees were treated to the comedic brilliance of Bermuda’s first female stand-up comedian, ‘Gina Love’. Her hilarious and heartfelt reflections on the journey to maturity had the audience roaring with laughter and nodding in recognition—setting the tone for a weekend of authenticity and inspiration.”
Saturday’s sessions delivered on every promise. “The purpose of the weekend was exceeded,” said Butterfield. “Based on the feedback received, I’m confident that attendees left empowered, informed, inspired—and filled with hope for the years ahead.”
The spokesperson said, “The day featured a lineup of dynamic presenters who brought wisdom, warmth, and practical tools to an atmosphere of expectancy:
“Angela Joelle offered expert financial guidance, weaving personal stories with actionable advice. Attendees were invited to continue the conversation through private consultations after the event. Keema Perry captivated the room with her lived examples and practical steps for discovering and manifesting one’s life purpose—leaving many visibly moved and energized.
“Zul Lee of Solstice Bermuda led a refreshingly candid conversation on ‘Self-Love’, about sexuality and ageing. Creating space for real talk and shared understanding , with attendees on the edge of their seats.
“After a delicious lunch, Lisa Wingood invited attendees and instructed everyone into The Fan Dance, that ushered in the return to the circle—rooted, open, and renewed.
“Kirsten Beasley, was up next and courageously shared personal reflections on navigating life’s transitions as a woman. Her message underscored the importance of developing a Strategic Plan for one’s personal journey, and she equipped attendees with practical tools for self-advocacy and intentional growth.
“Each presenter was introduced with a theme song that reflected their spirit and message, adding a vibrant and personal touch to the day’s proceedings. The closing keynote was delivered by The Hon. Alexa Lightbourne, JP, MP, Minister of Home Affairs, whose entrance was heralded by Queen Ifrica’s empowering anthem, ‘Lioness on the Rise.’ Minister Lightbourne challenged attendees to reframe retirement not as an exit, but as a bold new entrance—a redeployment of wisdom and experience. ‘Preparation,’ she reminded the room, ‘is not a burden. It is an act of self-respect and a strategy of strength.’
“The event culminated in a dynamic panel discussion moderated by the ever-engaging Jennifer Outerbridge-Smith, who infused the day with humor, warmth, and thoughtful commentary.
“Butterfield extends heartfelt gratitude to our lead donor and sponsor, Roche Services Holdings Ltd. Bermuda and BermudAir, whose generous support helped make this event possible. We also thank the many local businesses who contributed incredible prizes that added excitement and joy throughout the day. Part proceeds of the event were given in support of The Women’s Resource Center.
“From laughter to learning, movement to meaning, ‘The Gathering’ was more than a conference—it was a revolution of spirit for women navigating the second half of life. Plans are already underway for future events, as the ripple effect of this weekend continues to inspire.”
