Weather Radar Repair Underway Update
The Bermuda Airport Authority has assured the public that efforts are underway to restore the island’s weather radar, with a replacement part expected from Europe.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Airport Authority understands and shares the public’s frustration that the weather radar is currently inoperable. We request the public’s patience whilst our technical team works with the system vendor in Germany to return this complex system to full service.
“A replacement part has been identified, and we await its delivery from Europe towards the end of the year enabling our strategy and next steps to be determined.
“The Bermuda Airport Authority would like to reassure the public that other products remain available on the BWS webpage such as the detailed forecasts, current observations, satellite imagery and satellite estimated rainfall.
“Updates will be provided.”

If there’s a more useless department than the people who run the radar I’d be surprised. It seems to be down more often than not and maintenance always seems to take in the summer, peak season for boating and fishing when radar is a big help. They need to embrace the “spare part system” that the rest of the world utilizes so that there is always a spare part available should one malfunction.
I wonder if they graduated from the Public Transportation Board school of management?
