Bermuda Weather App ‘Squalls’ Launches

A new locally built weather app — called Squalls — is now available, created Bermudian developer Adam Cooper.

A spokesperson said, “A new weather app made for Bermuda, squalls.app, is now available free to residents and tourists who want an accurate forecast for conditions on the Island.

“Built by Bermudian developer Adam Cooper, the service surfaces data directly from the Bermuda Weather Service. Most weather apps rely on global models and don’t show accurate conditions for Bermuda.

“The app, which is not affiliated with the Weather Service, includes BWS’s public and marine forecasts, as well as the local radar — the only accurate source for real-time rain conditions on the island. The app also shows tide times.”

“I built squalls.app because I wanted a weather app that works for Bermuda,” Mr Cooper said. “So often I’ve heard from visitors concerned about the weather for their upcoming trip because Apple or Google predicted a washout, when in reality a few scattered showers were predicted.”

“When I announced the app on Facebook, I was overwhelmed by the positive response. People have been crying out for an app like this,” he said.

A spokesperson added, “The app is available at https://squalls.app as well as on the Apple App Store. Android users can save it to their home screen as a full-screen app. A version will be released to the Google Play Store in the next few weeks.”
