BZS Launches Christmas Mix & Match Sessions
The Bermuda Zoological Society is bringing back its Christmas Mix and Match Sessions, offering kids a variety of fun, educational half-day activities at BAMZ and Trunk Island.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Zoological Society [BZS] Junior Volunteers are excited to bring back the popular Mix and Match Activity Sessions over the Christmas holiday.
“From crafting to adventures and exploring the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo [BAMZ] or Trunk Island, these activities are the perfect way for kids to explore, play and learn over the holiday break! Build your own schedule by mixing as many half-day activities as you’d like.
“Some of the featured activities include:
- Aquarist for the Morning: Working with our BAMZ Aquarists and BZS Educators, campers will observe the seals and feed the turtles and the fish, while learning what is involved to keep the aquarium running.
- The Great Christmas Bug Adventure: Join us for an adventure into the fascinating world of bugs. We will explore their habitats and importance in our ecosystem and take a trip to Trunk Island to see what insects live there.
- Trunk Island Christmas Hunt: We will spend the afternoon outside roaming around Trunk Island for a giant scavenger hunt newly redesigned by this year’s Junior Volunteers. Come and defend your team colours!
- Pinatas and Treats for the Animals: Come create a “gift” for the animals, which may include a pinata [or a treat] with materials non-harmful to animals. Campers will fill it up with the animal’s favourite snack and set out on a tour to see them interact with your present.
- Polar Bear Swim on Trunk Island: Come on in the water’s lovely. Join us on Trunk Island for a dip at the beach before warming up with some hot chocolate around the bonfire.
“The BZS Mix & Match Activities camp is suitable for children ages 6-10, but please inquire about options available for younger or older siblings.
“The camps will run from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm for the Morning Sessions and 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm for the Afternoon Sessions. Aftercare is available from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm for $15 a day. Lunch supervision will also be provided for participants attending full-day sessions.
