The Bermuda Chamber of Commerce announced a $15,000 donation from the Construction Association of Bermuda [CAOB], the Chamber’s Construction Division, in support of a new youth trades internship program, launching in January 2026.

The Bermuda Chamber of Commerce Construction Division, which recently amalgamated with the Construction Association of Bermuda, said they “are committed to fostering initiatives that develop talent, strengthen industries, and support Bermuda’s economic resilience.”

Bryan Adams, Construction Division Co-Chair, shared, “We are delighted to provide this donation to Skillcraft. This program aligns well with our goals to promote trades training in the construction industry.

“The donation highlights the construction industry’s commitment to workforce development and aligns with the Chamber’s broader goal to create tangible opportunities for Bermuda’s next generation. It also marks a significant step forward in bridging the gap between education, training, and employment in a sector vital to the island’s growth.”

“This is more than a financial contribution – it’s an investment in Bermuda’s future,” said Chamber CEO Jennifer Woods. “The trades have long provided stable, rewarding careers, and this program gives young people a foot in the door. We’re proud to be part of an initiative that delivers both skills and opportunity.”

A spokesperson added, “The Trades Skills Internship initiative is a 13-week pilot designed to expose young Bermudians to careers in the trades by combining classroom learning with real-world job site experience.

“Running from January 12 to April 10, the program will support five interns aged 18-24, each placed with a host construction business for the duration of the internship. Participants will engage in two days of classroom-style instruction and three days per week on-site, gaining invaluable hands-on skills and earning NCCER certification upon completion. Interns will also receive a stipend to support their participation.”

“We are deeply grateful to the Construction Association of Bermuda and the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce for supporting this pilot program, which gives young Bermudians hands-on experience in the trades,” said Margot Shane, Skillcraft Founder. “Initiatives like this are only possible through strong community and industry partnerships, and their backing underscores the value of collaboration in building meaningful career pathways.”

A spokesperson added, “Applications are open now and will close on November 28. Young Bermudians interested in applying can learn more and apply at www.skillcraft.bm/tradesinternship. For more information on how to support Chamber programs or partner on future initiatives, visit www.bermudachamber.bm.”
