Mathematics Academy Launches Public Lecture
Dr. Kevin Minors, founder of the Bermuda Mathematics Academy, will host the first public mathematics lecture, Patterns, Primes, and Proofs, on Saturday, November 15.
Dr. Kevin Minors said, “I am thrilled to announce the launch of our first public mathematics lecture:
Patterns, Primes, and Proofs — The Building Blocks of Mathematics
“Together, we will explore:
- Recognizing beautiful patterns in sequences and series [including square numbers]
- Prime numbers and famous ideas surrounding them [such as the Twin Prime Conjecture]
- How mathematicians prove things — featuring Proof by Induction and Proof by Contradiction
- And finally, a timeless and elegant proof: there are infinitely many prime numbers
“This session is open to everyone. There will be interactive problems to try, so please bring something to write with!

Mathematics, is sure needed in Bermuda even in it simplest form the problem gets down to need and want and don’t have . This is where the debit card spoils the game, don’t buy junk! for example the family budgetis designed to plot income against family expenses ,as not every month will be the same . i remember asking people prepare a Family budget, however, i doubt if any one did that, i would say ,that exercise, is virtually mandatory. May i recommend that as many as possible join in the good doctor Kevin Mino’sr program, there are many quick tricks he will tell you when dealing with math . Equations can make your brain sweat, so can the game of chess. Don’t for get to bring a permanent note book you will be glad you did , the more notes you make noted the less you have to remember . I am sure the doctor will tell you that . he did not say leave your calculator at home.
