MP Dwayne Robinson Urges Road Safety
Shadow Tourism and Transport Minister Dwayne Robinson is urging people to prioritize road safety.
The OBA MP said Dwayne Robinson said, “With the days now shorter and the darkness setting upon us earlier, it is incumbent of me to remind cyclists, runners and walkers to wear reflective wear when exercising on the roads.
“I have received numerous concerned reports of exercisers being narrowly missed because they were wearing dark clothing yet lacked reflective gear or lights.
“Prevention is better than cure and ultimately, everyone should be able to use Bermuda’s roads safely.
“To motorists, I implore you to exercise caution as you navigate roads and please, slow down. It’s better to arrive late than not to arrive at all.
“I implore the Government to take improving lighting and maintenance of our roads and railways seriously and ensure they are well lit and safe for use.”

Dear MP Robinson,
Traffic lights and traffic signs do not matter any more, why should drivers pay attention to people?
We all know someone who has died on our roads. Most of us know multiple people who have died almost always by their own poor choices, crashes not accidents, on the roads.
Some of us have crash freeand insurance free records spanning decades. Then there are the ones with the cranial capacity of a neanderthal riding the roads. They are not hard to pick out. You can’t drive more than a mile without one of them going by at just below flight speed.
Where are the police? Dangerous driving is an offence. Where are the insurance companies? Those with poor driving records should have extra loadings put on their premiums.
“Those with poor driving records should have extra loadings put on their premiums.”
They do if they are caught and convicted and declare their conviction.
The first issue is finding a police officer to enforce our traffic laws. The rest follows.
That’s if they bother buying insurance. Which is not exactly a foregone conclusion.
In other news, water is wet.
The number of people out there walking, running cycling with NO LIGHT is absolutely STUPID. I have a question, if I am driving my car minding my business, following the road rules, and I run into you BECAUSE I CANNOT SEE YOU….who’s fault is it??????
Mr. Robinson all you write can not be all that important to you and this country there is much more.
,if so, you are off the mark
Did it ever occur to you the the general public is getting a little tired of your ranting over the media regarding what needs to be done around here.
Why are the public paying you a massive salary being 4 time what i was making working for the people in Government.
Are yoi just wantimg to look important in this small island. All it take is for you to deal with the minister of W & E write the man a letter, tell the minister we are getting no results. c.c. the premier with a note saying ” i am getting getting no results. ” Mr Robinson, you need to do your job ,and stop the pretending. You know that things are getting out of hand here and beyond reality . Do not tell us what we know already, deal with it. This is what you get when there is no accountability at the top end, the bottom end pays the price . The back bone of every successful society is “Up the organization ” . not drag our island home though the mud . i see that you have many un happy customers
.
By the way you taxation program to pat for political holidays is draining the life blood out of us all rich and poor alike .
